(CAMDEN, MAINE) Whether you’re born and bred in Maine or someone who summers here , Normand Chartier’s stunning watercolors will speak to you. Here the artist who is known for illustrating dozens of children’s books and countless stories in kids’ magazines shows his colors as a watercolor painter capable of portraying the Maine coast in all its moods.
Look for sun-struck seaside scenes, misty morning landscapes, wild roses kissed by the fog, docks stacked with lobster traps, sailboats gliding, working boats with their motors idling, and much more in a book that speaks volumes about the way life should be.
Normand Chartier is the acclaimed illustrator of more than seventy books for children and of numerous stories in magazines such as Ladybug, Cricket, and Sesame Street. He has been included three times in the prestigious “Original Art” exhibition of the New York Society of Illustrators. He was listed in The Very Best of Children’s Illustration by North Light Books. Mr. Chartier is a resident of Brooklyn, Connecticut. He summers every year on Maine’s Southport Island.
