Appearance, Book Signings & Events:

Normand was selected as one of four artists to give a talk and powerpoint presentation of his work,
and was in a panel discussion on "Why Children's Art?" at the New Britain Museum of American Art. The event was
a beautiful and meaningful answer to that question on Feb. 2, 2014, as a conclusion to the "50 Years of
Maurice Sendak" exhibition. The other three artists were Barbara McClintock, Wendell Minor, and Bill Thomson.

Press release (3/25/15) Brooklyn’s Normand Chartier was recently inducted into the Slater Memorial Museum’s permanent collection with three of his children’s illustrations and three of his fine art watercolor paintings.

~ Two of Normand Chartier's fine art Watercolor Paintings and ten varied Children's Illustrations were acquired by the New Britain Museum of American Art, 2014.

~ Normand Chartier became an Invited member of The Mazza Museum (Global children's art), Findlay, Ohio 2013

~ October 11, 2012: Kerri Art Gallery presented the artwork of Normand Chartier with an Opening Reception from 6-8PM. Kerri Art Gallery is located at 861 Main Street, Willimantic, CT 06226.

There were 40+ watercolor paintings and 40+ original children's illustrations (including Sesame Street) and a display of most of Normand's books. His book of paintings "My Maine" was available for purchase.


~ Normand officially donated a painting of the Israel Putnam wolf's head and did a book signing at the Brooklyn Historical Society's premier "Fall Fair", October 2011: Read Norwich Bulletin article here...


~ The cover of Spider Magazine, the Holiday-November/December 2011 issue, features the illustration art of Normand Chartier. (Click on the image below to see it larger.)

Spider is one of the Cricket Magazine Group's titles published by the Carus Publishing Company of Chicago. It is one of the premier children's magazine publishers in the world. Other magazines in the group include Cricket, Ladybug, and Babybug. Mr. Chartier has illustrated dozens of pieces for each of the group including many covers for each.

The Magazines routinely have included many works by the finest authors and illustrators in childrens publishing.


~ Normand was honored with a retrospective show of paintings and illustrations for the Thomas Dodd Research Center and Galleries at the University of Connecticut. It ran from early October 2010 to January of 2011, and showcased his illustration work at the Dodd Research Center Gallery with "37 & Counting" a retrospective show of original art, manuscripts, sketches, and books from the Northeast Children’s Literature Collection and the Stevens Gallery with “An Alter Ego” consisting of thirty of his evocative watercolor paintings, many from his fine art book entitled My Maine, the Coastal Watercolors of Normand Chartier.
